The Internal Security Forces of Rojava and Eastern Syria recently carried out an operation against a network of spies cast by Turkish Intelligence Service in the region. It was uncovered that the Turkish Intelligence Service (the MIT) had recruited poor people to establish a network of spies in the region.
Investigations and confessions of the spies revealed a plot to assassinate Kurdish politicians in Rojava.
The Turkish MIT is known to be carrying out covert operations in Rojava via a network of local people who are being paid to spy. Investigations conducted by the Internal Security Forces of Rojava revealed that sleeper cells recruited by the MIT had planned to assassinate members of the Co-Presidency of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) Aldar Xelil and Saleh Muslim.
SAT, one of the spies, explained how he was recruited by the MIT through a person named Badi Ali to aid in the killings of the two politicians.
The traitor, identified as SAT, is aged 55 and comes from Zarkan in occupied Serêkaniyê. He was recruited by the Turkish MIT through a person called Badi Ali who is in his fifties and lives in occupied Tal Harmal village. Ali works within the Turkish intelligence and his task is to recruit people for the MIT in the areas of the Autonomous Administration in NE Syria.
“They asked him to provide them GPS”
After the Revolution of July 19th, traitor SAT joined the Internal Security Forces (known as the Asayîş), and worked as driver for one of the Executive Council bodies’ officials in Al-Jazeera region following the declaration of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Al-Jazeera region in 2014.
Badi Ali was already familiar with the traitor when Serêkaniyê was attacked by the Turkish occupation on October 9, 2019, and had contacted him via a Turkish number.
The traitor noted: “Badi asked me to provide him with the latest updates about the region, especially on the battle fronts. I told him that I was not a part of the military, so he asked me to provide him with the GPS of the Autonomous Administration institutions.”
The Turkish intelligence member Badi Ali’s knew very well that the traitor was able to access areas no ordinary person can, by virtue of his work as a driver for an official.
After the traitor was caught, videos were found on his mobile phone of the sites requested by Badi Ali along with the coordinates for several other institutions of the Autonomous Administration. The WhatsApp messages on the traitors phone showed that he sent the video directly to Badi via WhatsApp, with a message saying:
“Here are the headquarters of the Democratic Union Party. Now, a meeting is going on; tell me if you are going to bomb it so that I can get away from here now.”
The MIT sent him a phone
The traitor admitted that he recognized an agent named Abu (W) who came from Turkey, and that they worked together for a period of time. He added:
“Abu (W) used to work as smuggler and lives in Turkey. He introduced me to a person called Abu (A) during the attack on Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî. We had a normal relationship, and after a while, two people on a motorcycle asked me in Arabic, “Are you S? I told them yes. Then they handed me a black bag which contained a telephone and a Turkish SIM.
Later, Abu (A) called me via it and said to me, we have sent you this phone so that no one will be able to track you down. They sent me money too.”
Espionage training
The traitor also confessed that he received training by the Turkish MIT’s spy Abu (A) on how to learning and provide GPS information via the phone. He said:
“After that period, Abu (A) talked me via phone and said, I will teach you how to provide the GPS of any area.”
The traitor confessed that the so-called Abu (A) asked him for information about Kurdish politicians in Rojava and locations of SDF fighters.
Turkey’s attack against leading Kurdish figures
This is not the first time the Turkish state target Kurdish politicians and revolutionaries. In 2013 the Kurdish militant Martyr Sakine Cansiz and her comrades were assassinated in Paris, Mam Zaki in Şengal, Diyar Gharib, Qasim Anakin, and Layla Wan in legitimate defence areas, in addition to many other people who were assassinated by and with the help of local agents and spies.
The Turkish state has adopted a plan to assassinate dignitaries and politicians in the region, with the aim of sowing discord among the components. It is clear from the recent confessions of the agent (S.A.T) that the Turkish state continues these methods and plans. However, the Internal Security Forces managed to detect the spies.
