Komalên Jinên Ciwan shared a written statement in relation to the values Martyr Beritan created for the fighters which came after her, on the 27th anniversary of her martyrdom. The Young Women’s Union stated that it is time to say no to the fascist mentality that is trying to dim, passivize and break the will of society.
The statement made by KJC is as follows;
“We commemorate Commander Beritan with respect and gratitude on the 27th anniversary of her martyrdom. Commander Beritan is an example of the persistent spirit of the Kurdish woman against the collaborators and traitors in Kurdistan. She is a symbol of resistance against betrayal.
Heval Beritan, as the successor of the Besês who did not surrender to enemy forces and chose to throw themselves from the cliffs of Dersim, showed that there is no place for betrayal in the Kurdistan freedom struggle. She taught us how to stand against collaborationists.
Today, Heftanin is witnessing a legendary resistance because of the values created by comrade Beritan who stood firm against the betrayers walking side by side with the invaders. Heval Rüstem, just like his predecessor Heval Beritan, reiterated that surrender is betrayal and joined the caravan of immortals by throwing himself off the cliffs of Heftanin. Comrades Nucan, Esmer and Zelal, who wrote their name in the history of the woman with their resistance, once again depicted the resistant spirit of the Kurdish woman.
The fascist enemy, who has constructed itself on the foundations of its hatred against the Kurds, attacks our values, existence, culture and dignity with the ugliest methods as if the existence of the Kurds meant its own destruction. Young women are exposed the most to these attacks and policies. Just as the spirit, of persistency, the culture and moral values of society was established through women, the enslavement of women became the key to break the will of the society and to exhaust their moral values.
We are going through a period when the fascist mindset which is the enemy of the peoples, of a moral and political life, is persecuting the people at record levels. Children are raped, the aim is to leave behind no moral values, to ensure total surrender to the state. They are taking steps to create a society in which the massacres of women or rape is accepted and where no democratic and human rights are taken into consideration.
The youth, particularly the young women, who remain silent in the face of such attacks on moral values are doomed to die and perish. A people’s self-existence, self-will, moral values, culture, protection is possible with organized youth who understand that they are responsible for that society. They are trying to turn young women into reflex-less, pacified tools of special warfare.
Against this, as Komalên Jinên Ciwan, we declare this month which started on October 25 with Beritan’s cry for freedom against collaboration and betrayal – to November 27 which marks the founding of our Party (the PKK). Under the campaign “We Say No”, we declare this month of resistance and revival as a month of mobilization around the Kurdish freedom struggle. We declare this month, the month of participation.
The PKK is a women’s party, it is the biggest answer to the woman’s dreams of a free life. On the anniversary of the founding of our party, all patriotic revolutionary young women must turn to the free mountains.
We announce our participation as the young women’s movement, in the “Time to create a free society and free women” move initiated by the KJK. We will turn this month into a month in which young women turn to the mountains in order to break the male-dominated mentality, to meet a free life.
It is time to say no to the fascist mentality that tries to make young women obscure, passive and manipulable.
The charactersitics of the youth is dynamism and radicalism while the sociality and sacrifice is the essence of the woman. Despite being the strongest force within society, there is not a single area in society where women are free from massacre or rape.
This fascist, male-dominated order can provide the woman with nothing but destruction and death. They try to consume the last remaining pieces of freedom by eliminating all alternatives of prostitution or collaboration. The right way to respond to these immoral and treacherous impositions is by putting up an honourable struggle in the ranks of freedom.
The fascist state, which has tried a thousand and one ways to detach young women from their own culture and the reality of society, aims to steal the lives of young women in the name of love and affection, and to create a society whose will is broken by rape and blackmail. This is being done through the explaitation if the most noble feelings. Against this, the most sacred place where young women will find themselves is the free mountains.
At the current stage, there is no opportunity to fight democratically against the fascist mentality. The struggle to create a democratic and free life cannot be fought in a system which brutally attacks every demand for a free life, where even thinking is prohibited. The realities show that if young women want to fight against this system, they must leave the system. The greatest answer to the fascist order which attempts to chain our minds and hearts is to create free consciousness and will. Young women should say no to fascism and desperation, they must turn to the mountains of freedom.
Just as Martyr Beritan said no to the line of betrayal and wrote a history of resistance:
With the tradition of resistance which exists in all patriotic young women, they should say no to a life without morals or a will and choose an honorable struggle. Freedom does not come unexpectedly, it is time to take the sacred step. If there is a total attack on our existence, culture and identity, the answer is to resist with the spirit of total mobilization.
On this basis, we commemorate our comrades who became legends in the most relentless struggle for freedom in history, who wrote epics with their heroism, who were martyred for the sake of the liberation of their people and humanity with the Apoist spirit of sacrifice, with respect and with gratitude. We repeat the promise that we will crown their heritage with victory.”
