One of the jihadist mercenaries who were involved in the torture and killing of Hevrîn Xelef, a Kurdish politician, was spotted in Riha.
Launching an occupation operation last year, the fascist Turkish state attacked the autonomous lands of Rojava claiming that it posed a threat to the national security of Turkey and northern-Kurdistan which it occupies.
On October 10, 2019, on the M4 highway in Rojava Kurdistan, a group of Turkey-backed jihadists members opened fire to the vehicle of the Kurdish politician and Syrian Future Party Co-Chair Hevrîn Xelef. The jihadists, who shared footage of the politician being tortured and killed, were later appraised by the fascist Turkish state.
Muhamed Elhemedy, one of the jihadists, was identified through this footage and located to be in Riha in occupied northern Kurdistan.
