Azerbaijani is effectively using social media to shape the future of the war in the Republic of Artsakh, or the Nagorno-Karabakh region. It has become clear in the past weeks of conflict that Azerbaijan will not refrain from using terrorist style tactics and psychological warfare to create fear amongst opposition soldiers.

Another footage which surfaced on social media shows a group of Armenian prisoners of war being forced to say “Karabakh Azerbaijan.” The prisoners are evidently unarmed and their hands are tied. The recital of the words “Karabakh Azerbaijan” shows clearly that the soldiers have surrendered, thus raising questions about the unnecessary use of force by the Azerbaijani army.

Artak Beglaryan, a human rights defender for Artsakh, commented on the videos and photos which are being surfaced, he said:

“The videos show that physical and psychological pressures are being exerted on the prisoners of war for them to use the thesis of Azerbaijani propaganda,” Beglaryan said, stressing the importance for international community to focus on the cases.
