After peaceful Armenian protestors were attacked by Turkish fascists, the activists responded by protecting themselves from the attackers who were claimed to be armed. Turkish state officials and the media outlets owned by it have propagandised the acts of self-defence by the Armenian protestors to create a narrative that the Turkish citizens were being attacked by a mob of Armenian fascists.
On Wednesday, Armenians in France blocked the A7 highway leading to Valence demanding Paris to take action against the ongoing Turkish-Azeri attacks on Nagorno-Karbakh. The peaceful protest by the Armenians was attacked by a group of fascist Turks.
The armed attackers, who were claimed to be a Turkish father and his sons, were documented being beaten by the Armenian protestors. Footage which was captured of the entire protest, including the fight, had been manipulated to show the Turkish citizens being hit. The footage was later used as propaganda material by the terrorist Turkish state as well as their ambassador to France, Ismail Hakki Musa. Through his official social media account the ambassador shared:
“In the midst of a debate on separatism in France, a frightful attempt at lynching by an ultranationalist group!
4 French citizens of Turkish origin were violently attacked and injured by individuals armed with iron bars carrying Armenian flags.”
Turkish media outlets also hurried to support the false accusations, each claiming a different number of Turkish citizens were wounded by the “violent mob of Armenian ultranationalists”.
These claims were revealed to be fabricated after the full footage of the protests surfaced, showing that the number attackers were higher than that which was being claimed. The footage also shows the attackers running towards the peaceful protestors on a closed motorway in a way which suggests violence.
