It was revealed by the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights that the first batch of Turkey-backed jihadists had arrived in Azerbaijan from Turkey. The Observatory documented that the batch had been sent from occupied-Efrin to Turkey only days prior, to later be deployed to Azerbaijan.
The observatory stated that “On September 24, the Turkish government transported over 300 fighters of the Turkish-backed Syrian factions, mostly of “Sultan Murad” and “Al-Amshat” factions, from the villages and towns of Afrin canton in north-western Aleppo.”
The fighters themselves, according to the report, said that they were taken to Azerbaijan in order to guard the state’s border in return for salaries of 1,500 to 2,000 USD.
According to SOHR statistics, the number of recruits who arrived in Libya rose to nearly 18,000 Syrian mercenaries, including 350 children under the age of 18, of whom 8,500 returned to Syria after completing the duration of their contracts and receiving their financial dues. It is worth noting that the number of jihadists who were transported from Syria to Libya reached 10,000, of whom there were 2,500 Tunisians.
Imposing Sharia Law in Azerbaijan
Another report shared by Armen Press noted that the jihadist terrorist mercenaries who are being hired by Azerbaijan have started to loot stores, rob citizens in Azerbaijan.
According to several sources, the mercenaries are even trying to impose Sharia Law upon the Azerbaijani population, Armenian lawmaker Vahagn Tevosyan said.
Tevosyan reminded that in early September the Russian Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper reported that militants from Syria are planning to attack Armenia, but the article was deleted after Azerbaijani pressures.
“Today, news are coming in from various sources on how these mercenaries are treating the Azerbaijanis in the villages where they are deployed. The Azerbaijani villagers are complaining that the mercenaries are trying to impose Sharia Law upon their households, are looting stores and prohibiting the sale of liquor, women are banned from going outside without hijabs, people are robbed on the streets and so on,” he said, adding that the Aliyev regime’s criminal adventurism on hiring jihadists will implode Azerbaijan.
Attacking civilians
In the early morning of September 27, the Azerbaijani military launched a massive attack on the Republic of Artsakh using air force, missiles and tanks. The Azerbaijani artillery strikes targeted civilian settlements, including Stepanakert city, which resulted in several civilians being killed. Schools were also bombed. A mother and her child were killed in Martuni, Artsakh. Many other civilians were wounded.
As of the latest data, the Artsakh military’s countermeasures destroyed 4 Azeri attacking helicopters, 27 UAVs, 36 tanks and armoured personnel vehicles, 2 engineering armoured vehicles and 11 armoured equipment. Around 200 Azerbaijani attacking troops were killed in action.
