According to the information provided by local sources, children are being beaten with belts in an institution directly associated to the Directorate of Religious Affairs in Turkey, the Bedir Efendi Hafiz Boarding School. The school in the Elbistan district of Maraş is a boarding school for Quran courses for children.
As reflected to Nuce Ciwan cameras, a person who was identified to be a member of the teaching cadre, hits a child with an object. As the child starts crying, the attacker moves on to hit another person in the room.
In the past, investigations had been initiated against such attacks in many institutions affiliated with Directorate of Religious Affairs but no results were achieved and no legal action has yet been taken.
