In a written statement, the PKK Diplomacy Committee responded to claims by the KDP and the terrorist Turkish state, that the PKK is trying to ‘seize’ the city of Hewler. The PKK commented that such a claim is “a distortion that harms the Kurdish people” and that the struggle of the PKK in southern Kurdistan is against Turkish occupation.
PKK responded to the statement of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs that “the PKK wants to seize Hewler” by saying “Hewler is the capital of Southern Kurdistan. Sulaymaniyah is the second largest city (…) Such a thing as taking over Hewler can only be the plan and agenda of the Turkish special warfare centre. As the PKK, our goal is to remove and liberate the Turkish occupation in Kurdistan.”
“THE PKK HAS THE RIGHT TO BE IN THE WHOLE OF KURDISTAN, AND TO FIGHT”
The PKK Diplomacy Committee’s statement is as follows:
“The Turkish Republic’s invasion attacks against the Heftanin area within the territory of Southern Kurdistan, one of the Medya Defence areas, continues since June 16. It is known by the peoples of Kurdistan and the world that the KDP openly and secretly supported this occupation during the process.
The KDP justified and legitimized the invasion and destruction attacks that the Turkish state wanted to carry out, including those against Haftanin, Shengal and Maxmur, alleging the presence of the PKK and the freedom guerilla. The main reason for all these statements being released is to obscure support for this open and secret occupation.
The PKK and the Kurdistan Freedom guerilla have the right to be in all of Kurdistan and to struggle. As the PKK does not see or recognize any occupying power that occupies Kurdistan as legitimate, it has also determined to fight and resist colonialism as a basic strategy. Just as other Kurdish organizations have the right to organize and fight in all parts of Kurdistan, this applies likewise even more to the PKK.
Again, the PKK sees resistance as a very important method in the struggle to liberate Kurdistan. Besides the political, social and diplomatic dimensions of resistance, military-guerrilla resistance is one of these methods of struggle. It sees the guerilla resistance and struggle as the basic guarantee for the liberation of Kurdistan.
Misperception and Propaganda
Despite the facts being so clear, the KDP’s misperception of the armed resistance and the struggle against colonialism, which harms the achievements of the Kurdish people, is propaganda and a distortion. The PKK and the guerilla are safeguards for all gains in Kurdistan. The aim here is to hide the agreement [by KDP and the Turkish state] and the cooperation which was entered, at the point of weakening and neutralizing the PKK.
The KDP waged a Peshmerga struggle against colonialism for years. If the KDP now finds the resistance and struggle of the Peshmerga wrong, this should be explained. If the KDP finds the struggle of the Peshmerga right, then they must reject the politics of distorting and defaming the resistance of the freedom guerilla today.
Those who invited the guerilla to fight when ISIS attacked the achievements of Southern Kurdistan, Shengal and Maxmur, cannot state that it is wrong to resist and fight against Turkey today. The fact of political struggle and governance presupposes a responsibility that does not negate each other in evaluations and requires continuity.
Denying what was said the day before, and saying different things the next day according to interests and relationships, makes those who do this questionable.
The seize of Hewler can only be the plan of the Turkish state
The Fascist Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu’s statement “PKK wants to capture Hewler” expresses their despair in the face of the resistance by the guerilla.
The PKK, as a Kurdistani party, continues its existence in the entire Kurdistan area. Hewlêr is the capital of Southern Kurdistan. Suleymaniye is also its second largest city. Our people, both in these cities and in all of Southern Kurdistan, have great respect and sympathy for the PKK struggle and the hero guerilla. The PKK has promised to defend the people of Kurdistan with all its might in every field and acts with this responsibility. Therefore, an agenda such as seizing Hewler can only be the plan of the Turkish special war centre.
As the PKK, our goal is to liberate Kurdistan from Turkish occupation. This anti-Kurd game of the Turkish Republic has already been in vain and has been convicted in all Southern Kurdistan, especially in Hewler and Sulaymaniyah.
On this basis, we call on all Kurdish political parties and our people to take a stand against the fascist Turkish state and those in open or secret cooperation with the enemies of the Kurds.”
