WAN, NORTHERN KURDISTAN

Two civilians, Servet Turgut and Osman Şiban, were found in a hospital in Wan 2 days after being ‘detained’ by fascist Turkish soldiers on 11 September. The Turkish soldiers who had been deployed to the Şax district of Wan on a military operation, threw Osman Şiban, a father of 8, out of their helicopter it was reported by local people who witnessed the event.

After being dispatched from hospital in a fragile condition, Osman Şiban’s home in Wan was raided this morning by Turkish police who forcefully took him away. It was later learned that he was taken to a military hospital, despite the absence of any warrants. The illegal detainment, or abduction, was implemented per the orders of the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and have no legal basis.

After public attention was drawn to the case, the occupying Turkish soldiers altered official reports to state that Şiban had fallen from a cliff while trying to escape from the soldiers.
