The Long March Organization Committee released a statement in Kurdish, German and Spanish regarding the fascist attack of the German police against the Long March protest. The Long March action which is traditionally organized by Kurdish youth every year, started in Hanover on September 5 this year and was initiated by Kurdish and international youth demanding freedom for Peoples Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
German police attacked after failing to provoke
In the statement made, it stated that the German police had made provocative attacks to prevent the protest from the first day of the march, and attacked the Long March activists directly after failing on numerous attempts to encourage the young people to start trouble. The police had gone as further as stopping the march countless times for no reason to frustrate the young people, and eventually banned them from singing or dancing to bring down the morale of the activists.
Stating that the German press also reported the attack, the committee said, “We do not accept the news published by the German press. The whole world has seen this inhuman attack. Even though we had tickets, they attacked us during live broadcasts, citing that we hadn’t bought tickets.
Explaining that 20 of their friends were detained and 3 young people were injured in the police attack, the committee said, “It was a plot prepared in the morning, the issue was not the absence of tickets, but the attempt to prevent the enthusiastic march”.
We will establish Free Kurdistan with Free Leadership
Stating that no attack can prevent their march, the organization committee said, “Those who declared war on us should know well that we young people will continue to resist until they live in Free Kurdistan with a Free Leadership. Let the German state know that no matter how hard it attacks or beats us, we will still be here and continue to resist.
Nobody can break the will of us young people with such attacks and will not be able to break it from now on. It is our call to our people,” the Committee concluded, “Let’s resist with the slogan Bi Hevra Serhildan – together with one heart.”
