AMED, KURDISTAN CAPITAL
State Railways started the construction of a 2-meter-high 12-kilometer-long concrete wall along the train tracks in Amed at the beginning of the week. 21 non-governmental organizations in the city reacted to the construction of the wall, stating that the city was divided from west to east with the wall and demanded that the project be abandoned.
The residents of the city also expressed their reactions, stating that they will be separated from their neighbours and the passage of pedestrians will be prevented if the wall was to be built. Similar reactions rose on social media.
After the project caused public reactions, the Turkish Ministry temporarily suspended the project, which was on its agenda to go through revision. The Turkish Ministry is expected to make its final decision on the project in the coming days.
