MAINZ, GERMANY
An action was organised by the young women’s organisation JXK, in the city of Mainz in Germany against global femicide and sexual abuse against women.
3 young women carried out an action in Mainz city center against the increasing murders of women in Turkey and globally, in the recent years. The young women wrote the names of the women victims on pieces of paper, laying them on the floor in the city centre. The activists displayed photographs of the murdered women.
JXK mentioned the following in a statement they made during the action:
For months, women are being killed or exposed to male violence all over the world, but especially in Turkey. At least three women are murdered by a man every day in Turkey. The Turkish state, on the other hand, allows all kinds of reforms and laws in order to legitimise or not punish the perpetrators.
Patriarchy is used to institutionalize violence and rape against women and to deepen the culture of violence.
As young women with JXK, we say “stop” to femicide and sexual abuse. To draw attention to this, we put down the names and the pictures of the women killed in the recent weeks by the men they married, their friends or ex-partners in Mainz.
We will not remain silent about violence against women and femicide.
Violence against women must end all over the world!”
