A wave of rape cases swept through northern Kurdistan after 16 June, the day the military operation was initiated in Heftanin, when Shengal, Mexmur, and the Media Defense Areas were bombarded simultaneously by Turkish warplanes. The rapists in the majority of these cases were Turkish soldiers, sergeants or village guards, who attempted to break the will of the Kurdish people by using it’s traditional method of dishonourment.
One of the victims of the Turkish state’s psychological operations was 18-year-old IE who was raped for 20 days by a terrorist Turkish sergeant by the name of Musa Orhan. Despite all the complaints filed by the family against the rapist, he was taken into custody only to be released hours later with a travel ban. After spending weeks in hospital under treatment, the young girl committed suicide, ending her life.
IE’s doctors had previously stated that the young woman had an 80% chance of remaining paralyzed as most of her internal organs were harmed.
I did not remain silent
The young woman was found lying on the hospital floor by her mother, shortly before she gave her last breath. IE’s mother explained that before she died, IE said “I did not remain silent, but everyone else did.”
After spending 33 days trying to physically heal from the wounds inflicted by a rapist Turkish soldier, the young woman lost her life.
The corpse of IE, who was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) for an autopsy, will be buried today.
The letter she left behind
In the letter received by JINNEWS Agency which was left by IE to her family, she told what had happened. Although the letter was given to the occupying prosecutor’s office, no action was taken against the perpetrator, rapist specialist sergeant Musa Orhan.
