Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Sunday evening arrived by a helicopter at his residence in Minsk where thousands of people were rallying.

An estimated 200,000 protesters returned to the streets of Minsk yesterday to demand the resignation of Alexander Lukashenko in the latest wave of demonstrations against his disputed re-election two weeks ago.
Aleksandr Lukashenko, attending a rally in Grodno on 22 August, tried to convince the people into submission with the following words:
“Dear friends, people are tired. We are used to living in a calm, peaceful and tolerant country – in Minsk, here and in other cities. People have seen attempts to start a fire here. People are tired, they are asking for a peaceful life. We should give them this life,” the president said.”
