After pushing the economy into freefall, Turkey’s treasury and finance minister responded to the rising tension amongst the public by claiming that the reactions of the public were being provoked by “someone.” The Minister continued to spark outrage by implying that the people who have no direct business with the dollar should not complain about the economy.
Scandalous comments by Berat Albayrak (Erdogan’s son-in-law and also the Treasury and Finance Minister), went viral as tensions continue to escalate on social media platforms following Berat’s uneducated comments regarding foreign currency.
Speaking on a TV programme on CNN Turk, Berat answered the questions of the presenter regarding whether the people should be worried as the dollar continues to rise in comparison to the Lira. Berat replied: “Do you get a salary in dollars? Do you have debts? Do you have a business with dollars?”
He continued to legitimise the secret economic crisis by claiming that “there is a serious ‘unnecessary negative’ operation being run by someone in Turkey.” Again, the Erdogan regime is implying that everything wrong with the administration is caused by someone who is targeting them.
