KASSEL, GERMANY
Kurdish refugees and internationalist friends living in Germany gathered in Kassel, and celebrated the 36th anniversary of the Resurrection Day on August 15 with a march led by youth movements Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger and Jinên Ciwan ên Têkoşer.
The march, organized with the slogan “Bi Rihê 15ê Tebaxê Bi Hev Re Serhildan (Revolt Together with the Spirit of 15 August), started with a rally in Halit square at 16 o’clock.
During the march held in the city center, the activists carried posters of Êzidî Community Coordination and KCK Executive Council Member Zekî Şengalî (İsmail Özden) and Commander of the 15 August Revolutionary Initiative, Agit (Mahsum Korkmaz), and the Kurdish “Happy 15th of August – Bi Hev Re Serhildan” banner.
While a declaration was being read in German, Turkish fascists attempted to provoke the march. After the provocation, which was prevented by the resistance of the youth and the intervention of the police, the march continued with even more enthusiasm.
When the activists arrived at Opern square, a short rally was held there. The action, which lasted about 2 hours, ended with halay.
