AMED, NORTHERN KURDISTAN

During a period when the fraudulent detention practices of the fascist AKP-MHP dictatorship are at its peak, it has been revealed that drug-dealers and gamblers are being threatened by the terrorist Turkish state to testify as secret witnesses in political cases.

It was revealed that the supposed witnesses who are the reason behind the detainment of hundreds of innocent people are drug-dealers and gamblers who are being threatened by Turkish Intelligence to testify against strangers.

Two of them were revealed to be Ramazan Dikici, code-named Dolunay 2015, and Muhammed Aslan, code-named Kelebek 2015, living in Amed.

Anonymous Witnesses

Following a coup attempt in 2016, a state-of-emergency was initiated allowing arbitrary arrests. This state-of-emergency, which is generally only meant to last up to weeks, officially ended in Turkey in 2018, yet it continues to be put into practice as an institutionalised part of the constitution.

Anonymous Witnesses have become an important arm of the fascist Turkish state’s oppressive policies against politicians and anyone who opposes the fascist AKP regime.

Touching on the issue, the Venice commission had previously expressed:
“it is a matter of concern that based on the framework of the emergency regime changes of a structural nature to the system of local government in place in Turkey have been introduced on a permanent basis. The necessity for these changes appeared doubtful even during the state of emergency. That concern is of course all the greater now that the state of emergency is at an end. The ongoing effects of the previous emergency regime have given rise to ‘serious concerns.”

The people who are being assigned as witnesses are either intelligence officers, police or the drug dealers and gamblers being threatened by them. The young people being forced to speak are generally from patriotic Kurdish families.

Both Thief, Drug Dealer, and Gambler

It has been investigated that Anonymous Witness Ramazan Dikici, code-named “Dolunay 2015”, has been used in the cases of hundreds of people till date.

He is a drug dealer who cooperates with the MİT and operates a bet shop near the Gaziler district.

It was stated that Dikici, who was born in the Sur district of Amed, previously stole and carried out many other dirty works in Bağlar under the supervision of the police.

Dikici has regularly testified as an “Anonymous Witness” at the Diyarbakır High Criminal Court and caused the arrest of many innocent people. It is alleged that 18 people were arrested during the self-government resistances through fabricated evidence and false witness statements. One of the supposed witnesses is said to be Dikici.

Muhammed Aslan

Another name attached to this dirty network is Muhammed Aslan, who is working with cooperator Yasin Yorulmaz.

It was alleged that Aslan previously took part in patriotic youth work and used the code name Zagros, while doubling as an undercover spy.

Aslan, who studied at Fatih High School in Bağlar district of Amed, was first affiliated with anarchist groups and later participated in patriotic youth work, while working as an under-cover spy.

He was in contact with the Diyarbakır Police Department intelligence member Yasin Yorulmaz, and he was constantly in the Diyarbakır High Criminal Court. It was later revealed that he was testifying as an annonymous witnesses against other members of the youth.

It is alleged that he was drug dealing and operating a gambling business with the support of Intelligence member Yasin Yorulmaz.
