The People’s United Revolutionary Movement (HBDH) Militia made a written statement detailing that 57 vehicles belonging to holidayers were burned in Izmir’s Seferihisar district on 23 August.
The movement stated: “Turkey is not touristic holiday destination; it is a country ruled by fascism. It is a country of war where persecution rules against the workers, the poor people and the Kurds.”
The statement released by HBDH is as follows:
“The AKP-MHP fascism tries to show the country as the center of peace and tourism by trying to hide poverty, war and fascism with advertisements and false propagandas it broadcasts for foreign tourists. However, the only real truth is that as long as fascism is in power, it will not be a safe or peaceful country not only for the poor and the Kurdish people, but for anyone.
There remains an honorable struggle in Turkey against fascism for freedom and justice, even under great oppression. Imprisoned revolutionaries resist against isolation and captivity, revolutionary lawyers strengthen resistance even in the last breath of their death fast.
In Bakur, Bashur and Rojava, the Kurdish people continue to stand against slavery and sing freedom songs in the mountains and cities with a historical resistance against colonialism. Millions of poor laborers are working in factories until their last breath despite the pandemic, people commit suicide because of unemployment and hunger. Every day, dozens of women are harassed, raped, and massacred by men with the support of the male-government.
Against all this, laborers, women, the Kurdish people, revolutionaries resist everywhere to overthrow fascism. No one can lead a normal life in any corner of a country where oppression, massacres, hunger, poverty, torture and bullets prevail; where occupation operations are carried out against the peoples of the region. ”

“All local and foreign tourists should see this reality of war and stop contributing to tourism, which is a source of finance for fascism. They must stay away from tourism hubs, knowing that this war is also being brought to the west of the country as long as another part of the country is under persecution.
Until fascism collapsed and gained freedom; Turkey does not tourism, the struggle, the resistance is a war of geography. “
