BEHDINAN, SOUTHERN KURDISTAN
Young people continue to join the guerrilla in groups following a mobilization campaign which was launched by Ciwanên Welatparêz and Jinên Ciwan ên Tekoşer on 30 June with the slogan ‘Let’s destroy Fascism and Occupation for a Free and United Kurdistan’.
Many young women and men in the Kandil region announced that will be joining the guerrilla ranks after the move was initiated. Many young people who wanted to go to Heftanin, the area with the most intense conflict, were sent back by the KDP who had to block the roads to stop the youth from joining.
Within the framework of this move, 2 of the new guerrillas spoke to Nuce Ciwan about their reasons for joining.
Expressing the excitement of joining the freedom ranks, a young person named Ermen Mihemed Elî (21) in the Çemçemal region, stated that the purpose of his participation in the PKK is to defend his lands and fight against all who are enemies in the Kurds. The young person emphasised that this sacrifice was for the future of his people.
In his speech, Ermen Mihemed ElÎ made a call to all Kurdish youth and emphasized that all young people should come and protect their people and their lands.
A young man named Amed Qendîl (19), stated that the purpose of joining the PKK was to liberate his people from the occupation of the Turkish state and to create a free Kurdistan, and stated that it was necessary to fight in order to stop Kurdistan from being occupied, that no other way is possible.
At the end of his speech, Amed Qendîl emphasized that all young people should join the PKK ranks and urged them to fight together.
