QAMISHLO, ROJAVA
An unidentified group attacked the office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party-Syria (PDK-S) late Saturday (yesterday) in Qamishlo. It was reported that a group, who spray painted on the Kurdistan Flag and banner on the office entry, broke the office door and tried to burn the office.
Immediately after the attack, PDK-S officials and media outlets made statements targeting the Northern and Eastern Syria Revolutionary Youth Movement.
Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger, who made a written statement regarding the accusations, emphasized that they have no relation to the attack and that the attack was a provocation targeting Kurdish unity.
The statement stated the following;
“As it is known, under the leadership of Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger, we started a move with the motto ‘We will certainly win.’ This was initiated on August 15 with the spirit of Resurrection Day. The move we announced was embraced by many young people from different cities.
Dozens of young people have announced that they support and will participate in the move. Our move was greeted with mass celebrations in Rojava, Kurdistan. Some people whose identities are not yet known and who took part in the celebrations in Qamishlo attacked the office of the PDK-S in order to shadow our move. We consider this step taken against Kurdish unity as a provocation.
We call on all parties to be sensitive to this provocation. We demand from all parties not to associate this attack with our movement. “
