Mehmet Öcalan, brother of People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the leader’s guardian Mazlum Dinç, applied to the fascist Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s office to visit Imrali.
The brother and guardian of the Peoples Leader Abdullah Öcalan who is being held in İmralı Type-F High Security Closed Prison, applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to visit the leader.
Relatives of the other detainees in Imrali, Ömer Hayri Konar’s brother Ali Konar, Hamili Yıldırım’s brother Polat Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş’s brother Melihe Çetin, also applied for a meeting through their lawyers.
Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş have only met with their relatives on June 5, August 12, 2019 and March 2, 2020 since being transferred on 15 March 2015.
Hamili Yıldırım, on the other hand, has only been able to meet with his family on June 5 and August 12, 2019 since he was taken to Imrali on July 15, 2015. Hamili Yıldırım could not be interviewed due to the illness of his family members in the last visitation opportunity, which took place on 2 March, after growing concerns regarding the fire on Imrali Island.
Leader Öcalan, on the other hand, was able to use his right to speak by phone on April 27 for the first time after 21 years. Other detainees in Imrali were able to make phone calls with their families for the first time since 2015 when they were first brought to the island.
