Among the most affected by the coronavirus epidemic are theater actors who are in direct contact with the audience. In this direction, a decision was taken to close theatres and cinemas in Turkey and occupied-northern Kurdistan on March 16 to eliminate the chances of more people being infected. With the ‘normalisation’ process, theatres and cinema halls were reopened on July 1.
During the time the halls were closed, many theater institutions and actors continued to meet their audiences on social media. One of the productions which quickly adapted to the limitations of the pandemic was the Amed City Theater.
Amed City Theater started by performing their sketches and plays on social media in Kurdish and will start to perform on television as of September.
The actors are currently preparing a play called “Hinek henek”.
