Belarus has become the epicentre of popular uprising after elections last Sunday were rigged in favour of 26-year dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
Demonstrators have continued to fill the streets since the election last Sunday against Lukashenko. As the demonstrations continued, opposition leader Tikhanovskaya announced that the dictator fled to Lithuania on the grounds that he was worried about safety.
People took to the streets and shouted ‘resign’ against Lukashenko, who had declared that he was re-elected with 80 percent of the votes in the elections. During the demonstrations, the public faced harsh intervention from the security forces.
