46-year-old NŞ was eventually detained by officials after harassing 21-year-old Tuğçe Ç for over a year. The security officials ignored Tuğçe Ç’s complaints until she spoke out about the violence on social media, gaining great support.
Despite consistently reporting harassment to the Bodrum Police Department for over a year and a half, no action was taken by security officials. After Tuğçe shared her experiences through her personal Twitter account, she received great support on social media. By forcing the security forces to take action in this way, Tuğçe oversaw that sexual predator NŞ was detained.
The messages shared by Tuğçe is as follows:
“I will write this because I am afraid of what happened today and what I am experiencing. I do not want to be harmed, to die! 46 year-old NŞ who is a pervert, psychopath and schizophrenic, is continuously assaulting me. He will not stop disturbing my family or those around me despite the fact that I have complained tens of times, I have even appeared in court but I am being told that he is innocent because he has not physically assaulted me. So nothing is being done.
I know that if anything happens to me I will become valuable. If anything does happen, you can reiterate that I spoke out through Twitter.
The situation has been ongoing for a year and a half and all the proof is with the police. Despite going to the police station in tears everyday during this period, the most I was able to do was get expulsion orders and he slept at the station one night.
