WAN, NORTHERN KURDISTAN
Turkish government officials announced that a reconnaissance plane crashed on Mount Artos in Wan, and 2 pilots and 7 invading police officers were killed.
On May 31 of 2017, guerrilla forces dropped a Cougar type helicopter carrying the coordinators of the occupation operation in the Sêgirkê (Şenoba) area of the Uludere district of Şırnak. The action was concealed by the Turkish state, with justifications such as the helicopter getting “tangled in wires.”
The helicopter carried 2 colonels, 1 Lieutenant Colonel, 1 Major, 3 Captains, 1 First Lieutenant, 2 Chief Sergeants and 2 Special Sergeants together with Major General Aydoğan Aydın. As a result of the HPG BİM action, 13 invading Turkish soldiers were killed.
HPG has not yet claimed responsibility for the action.
