HAMBACH FOREST, GERMANY
On the 8th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution, an activity was called to take place in Hambi occupation grounds in Germany.
For years, hundreds of persons have passed by or stayed in the occupation, among them are several internationalist warriors who fought in Rojava. One of those who left their mark in Hambi is Martyr Qereçox who was immortalised in 2018 while rescuing wounded warriors during Turkish invasion attacks in Efrin.
After a moment’s silence to commemorate the martyrs of the revolution, a statement was read in the center of the forest, and a group of people marched through the forest, passing by the excavation site and seeing the monstrosity of it.
Shortly after, security forces approached the activists with cameras accompanied by a police helicopter which flew low over the forest. Activists reported spotting a camera on a police helicopter recording footage of the event.
After the intimidation attempts of the German police had come to an end, the youth gathered and discussed the revolution of Rojava, the principles it is based on, the perspective of Hambi and Rojava in the fight against industrialism and exploitation mentality.
The event ended with traditional Kurdish dances around a lit fire.
