LIBYA
The occupying Turkish state continues to pursue new dreams of Ottomanism and deepen the crisis in the region.
Following a visit by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar to Libya, last night the El Vattiye Military Base where he travelled to was hit by an “unidentified aircraft.”
The Libyan National Army, led by General Khalifa Hafter, later announced that they had targeted the base and that 4 Turkish officers at the base were killed.
Turkish air defense systems destroyed
Other sources have announced that the number of Turkish soldiers who were killed is 3. It is also reported that the air defense systems (HSS) deployed by the Turkish army to the air base have also been destroyed.
Vatiyye Military Air Base, located approximately 125 kilometers southwest of the capital, Tripoli, was occupied by gangs affiliated to the National Reconciliation Government (UMH) with the air support of the Turkish army on 18 May.
It has become known that the Turkish state is to meet with Fayiz El Serrac to make the former Vatican Air Force Base a permanent base.
Broken Ottamanist dreams
Xalid El-Mehcûb, one of the officers of the Libyan National Army, reacted to Akar’s visit in a program he participated in on Sky News Arabia television.
Xalid El-Mehcûb said, “The Turkish minister has the right to establish all kinds of dreams. But Libyans also have the right to break and limit these dreams. Turks dream of staying in Libya forever like the Ottomans. But these dreams have no place in this world. The Turks will withdraw from Libya. ”
