The lifeless body of university student Pinar Gultekin (27), who had been missing for five days in the U
la district of Muğla , Turkey, was found in the forest area of Menteşe district. Gultekin’s murderer Cemil Metin Avcı was detained.
Cemil Metin Avcı, who was detained for murdering Gültekin confessed to the murder to the gendarmerie and was transferred to the courthouse under broad security measures after his proceedings.
The suspect was arrested on charges of “killing a person with a monstrous feeling”.
What happened
Pınar Gültekin was a student at Muğla’s Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, studying in the Department of Economics. Gultekin, who was last seen on July 16, told her sister in a phone call that she was going shopping. Pınar’s worried family reported her as missing to the Akyaka Patrol Command to find the young woman.
After 5 days of searches throughout the area, Pınar’s lifeless body was found in a forrested area. The murderer had initially battered the young woman until she fell unconscious in a supposed argument between them because of jealousy. Gultekin had supposedly ended her relationship with Avci after she found out he was a married man.
Cemil Metin Avcı later strangled Pinar with his bare hands, burned her corpse in a garbage can and poured concrete on her. In searches carried out in the area, Gultekin’s burnt body was found inside the barrel.
