Many EU countries, especially Germany, chose to test arrivals from Turkey for Covid-19. The Turkish Ministry of Health, in turn, declared the imposation of a test on every traveller at the expense of 110 Turkish Liras sent to a private bank account expected to belong to Tayyip Erdogan.
On 9 May, the National Health Insurance company announced that it would pay the fee for this test in all public health facilities and private health institutions where the Covid-19 disease was diagnosed. The package supposedly oversaw free treatment for members of General Health Insurance or for those dependent on it.
Fraud
Turning the Covid-19 into an economic opportunity, the fascist Turkish state promised to distribute free masks and provide free healthcare for those in need, while simultaneously passing laws to reclaim these funds from the people in the future as if it were a loan.
Another one of the AKP regime’s fraudulent schemes sparked outrage after the Turkish health ministry declared that travellers leaving Turkey are to pay an obligatory fee of 110 TL to a private bank account for their Covid-19 tests.
Many doctors have since taken to social media platforms to emphasise that it is illegal for the Health Ministry to demand money from travelers, citing that the lowly move is against the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law No. 5510.
