European Kurdish youth movements JCA (Young Free Women) and TCŞ (Revolutionary Youth Movement) issued a statement against the simultaneous Turkish bombardment at 00:00 on 15/06/2020 targeting civilians in Shengal, Mexmûr and Qendîl.
In the statement released jointly by the two youth organisations, a call was made to all Kurdish people and internationalist friends, especially young women in Europe, to take action against the genocide attacks of the fascist Turkish state.
The statement is as follows:
“At around 00:00 at night, the occupying Turkish state bombed the Media Defense areas including Qendîl, Zap, Xakurke, Diyana, Shengal, and Martyr Rüstem Cudi refugee camp in Maxmur aiming to annihilate the Kurdish population under the name of Claw-Eagle operation. The Turkish state insists on maintaining its capitalist, nationalist, colonialist understanding and policies through the annihilation of the Kurds.
While the world is taking measures against Coronavirus, while hundreds and thousands of people have poured to the streets against US fascism with the killing of an African-American named George Floyd, the fascist, genocidal, massacring AKP-MHP regime is reiterating the words it spoke years ago: “even if they are women, even if they are children, do what it takes.” These are the words which form today’s massacre.
Starting with the massacre of women, the Turkish state wanted to impose its exploitative understanding against Kurdish people in Afrin with fear, denial, and agentisation. So it attacked, raped and murdered young women. The attacks against the Media Defense Areas, Shengal and Mexmur are attacks against the Kurdish people, their land, their will, and their freedom. It is rape, it is the starting point of another holocaust.
Those who remain silent against the attacks are responsible for the massacre
On the other hand, it can be seen that an extreme attack preparation was made days ago; In military terms, they performed practices on the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts on June 9-12, and they moved 50 F16 aircraft to Amed airport a few days ago.
At a time when the genocidal Turkish state is living its last days, it sees no other possibility to survive other than by attacking the Kurdish people, by committing a total massacre against the Kurdish people to save it’s regime; The silence of the United States, Russia’s United Nations and the Council of Europe, again, by the European states shows that they completely approved this massacre and are the partners of the massacre.
There is no other way to protect our existence other than by struggle and resistance
For this reason, if all the people of Europe and the world have been on the streets against racism for days, all the people of Europe and the world must pour to the streets against the Kurdish genocide. The Kurdish youth, young women, the people of Kurdistan, and democratic, internationalist friends could prevent this genocide.
Against the genocide attempts of the fascist Turkish state, internationalist unity should take the streets on the basis of legitimate rights against all states, institutions and organizations that have partnered with the Turkish state, especially in Germany. Protecting our existence, gaining our freedom, leaves no choice but to fight, resist and self-defend.
On the basis of self-defence, the streets of Europe must echo the screams of Kurdistan every day, every night. Any other reaction is partnering with the AKP-MHP fascist regime confirming the massacre.
We believe that no one, especially not the young people from Kurdistan, will accept to stay in their homes. They will reject the massacre and genocide attempt in Kurdistan on the streets of Europe just as the Kobanê, Serekaniyê, and Efrîn processes, and develop an internationalist struggle against it.”
