Kurdistan’s freedom cause has entered a new era. The Turkish state is in a comprehensive attack against the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle and the status of the Kurdish people after being brought to its knees by the popular resistance dotted over Kurdistan.
People’s Defense Center Headquarters Commander Murat Karayılan was the guest of Stêrk TV’s Bernameya Taybet program.
Answering the questions of Arjîn Ferat, Karayılan made evaluations on the general situation in Kurdistan, touching especially on self-defence actions in Turkey-occupied Northern Kurdistan. The PDC Headquarters Commander mentioned:
“Actions are taking place in Northern Kurdistan. There are both guerrilla actions and self-defense actions. This is good. It shows that the allegations of the Turkish state are not true at all. The fascist AKP-MHP regime is running a comprehensive psychological war. The actions developed by the self-defense units against agents, collaborators and the economy of the enemy in Kurdistan and Turkey’s metropolises are not bad but they are insufficient. These actions must be increased, there is such a need.”
The war in Heftenîn
The AKP is running a completely psychological war. For example, now there is a war in Heftenîn. The first day, this was prioritised on the agenda of all Turkish channels, but they haven’t even mentioned it in the past two days.
Now they say that Hulusi Akar and the commanders have come to the coordinating center in Şırnak. Why did they come? Because they understood that the situation for them is getting worse. Dozens of soldiers have been killed so far. I don’t want to give an exact number, but yesterday’s statement said that 20 soldiers were killed and tens of them were killed the day before.
Indeed, many invading Turkish soldiers coming there were punished. Because of this, they cannot progress. Our friends are hitting effectively with sabotage, assassination and infiltration tactics. So the Turkish state press doesn’t even mention it.
On the first day, they made Heftenîn a priority on their agenda, but now it is not. In fact, one purpose of making the operation a priority on the agenda was to overshadow the process of action by the HDP. They did not succeed in this.
Casualties hidden
Now in the North, whenever our friends take action against [the Turkish army], they either claim they have no casualties or they claim that the casualties are civilians.
For example, the friends carried out an action in Çatak, and Turkish media said civilians were killed. Then it was revealed that 13 soldiers / village guards were killed. One of the injured spilled the truth after being hospitalized. His words were reflected in the media.
This is also what happened in Amed, they are contras but they dress in civilian clothes and say they are civilian people.
Do not travel to Turkey
A comprehensive war is continuing between us and the genocidal Turkish state. The invading Republic of Turkey applies state terrorism to our people and conducts brutality. We want the people of Europe and Russia, as the people of Kurdistan, to see the genocide policies perpetrated on our people by the Turkish state so tourists don’t come to Turkey.
Every dollar they spend when they come to Turkey returns to the Kurdish people as bullets. So they should not come to Turkey. If they come to Turkey, we will not be liable if a loss is given. I am not saying we will target them, but there is a war here, if they come to the battlefield and get damaged, we are not responsible for it. Therefore, they should not come.
There is now a coronavirus threat, nobody is travelling, but nobody should come when things are calm either. This state is atrocious towards our people. We are fighting a legitimate resistance against it.
The Turkish state is the terrorist
Be it Germany, France, Russia or another country; Suppose that if a foreign state comes and occupies their land, prohibits their language, prevents their culture, seizes their property, will they not resist against this? Of course they will resist. We are doing this precisely. It is legitimate to resist against persecution. This is also present in the law of the United Nations.
We are fighting, we have guns, but we are not terrorists as the Turkish state claims. They are terrorists to us, and we are fighting against this. The whole world should take this truth into account and not support the Turkish state.
We are carrying out a very just and legitimate case. Perhaps whoever was in our place would do much more. We protect our humanity, our language, our truth, we do not surrender and we resist. So our case is sacred and legitimate. Everyone should consider this.
The ‘terrorist’ stamp and the Palme case
Why did they load the Olof Palme murder onto the PKK? Now the facts have been revealed and are on the agenda. Although there were other reasons, the main reason was that the August 15 move which was developed. They wanted to blame the Olof Palme murder on the PKK in order to prevent the August 15 move from having an impact on the world, so it is seen as terrorism.
Olof Palme was someone who loved the Kurds the most. They said that the Kurds killed him. They accused the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, which resisted against the genocide and restored humanity, in this way and put it on the “terrorist list”. It was only the beginning, and then they unjustly put the PKK on the terrorist list.
Be creative to find the guerrillas
Kurdish youth, even socialist and democratic Turkish youth must become more combative young people against this fascist genocidal regime. Now I know that there are many young people who want to join the guerrillas but are unable because they cannot find a way. We learn from friends that this is the case. In fact, they can reach guerrillas if they are a little creative.
There are those who can reach the guerrillas, but those who cannot become HPG should become YPS (Civil Defence Force). Let them stay there with the self-defense force. Don’t expect someone from YPS to come and organize you into a team. No, 2-3 people should come together to form teams and exercise their right to defend.
Do not expect instructions
They should not expect instructions from anyone. This is already essential; every Kurdish patriot, democrat and pro-rebel socialist in Turkey must take action against this fascist regime on its own initiative.
The enemy today burns all our mountains, plains, forests, animals, targets our bones, occupies our land, wants to scrape our roots, wants to put our people through genocide. So we must not remain silent against this enemy, we must resist. No young person is desperate. 2-3 young people can come together and take action.
They may say, “We have no weapons.” Their weapons are lighters and match sticks. They can also fight with lighters and matches. The enemy burns all of our property, our mountains, and then we burn their bases. Let’s target military places, economic places used against us, not that of normal people.
Time for action
Today, every young Kurdish person in Kurdistan and Turkey who calls themselves patriots or democrats: Take action against this fascist regime. It is not time to speak, but time to act. The period is such a period. Everyone should claim their duties in this historical period. Nobody should expect instructions for this. By following the internet, they should learn what self-defense is, its methods and perspective and act accordingly. As before, we should not expect our friends to go everywhere and organize people. Nobody should have such an expectation.
Organise yourselves
Everyone should read and learn through the internet and take action without waiting for anything else. This is the character of this period. The enemy is running a total war against us. Us, our people and wants to eliminate the gains of our peoples. We want to resist and defeat the enemy. We can defeat this enemy because it is very weak. It has not been successful until now, and no longer after that.
Success will be ours, of the people of Kurdistan and of the revolutionaries who resist. Victory will definitely be ours if we follow in the footsteps of heroic martyrs. When this happens, we will definitely be the winner.
