HPG (Peoples’ Protection Forces) made a written statement about the actions taken by guerrilla forces’ in Gever. It was stated that 4 invading Turkish soldiers were punished, one of them a corporal, and two counters were injured. HPG’s explanation regarding the actions is as follows:
“On June 22, within the scope of the Martyr Bager and Martyr Ronya Revolutionary Movement, our forces carried out a sabotage action against Memişta Police Station in the Geliyê Doski area of Hakkari’s Gever (Yüksekova) district.
In this action targeting the enemy unit in motion, 1 soldier was punished and 2 counters were injured. The invading Turkish army launched an operation in the area following the action.
Again, within the scope of the Martyr Bager and Martyr Ronya Revolutionary Movement, on June 23, at 19.30, our forces carried out a raid against the positions affiliated to Perixan police station near Gever.
Our forces infiltrated the positions of a group of soldiers carrying out compass activities in the area, where they effectively hit the soldiers from 2 different branches. In this action, 3 soldiers, one of which was a corporal, were punished and 1 soldier was injured.
The invading Turkish army, astonished by this action, tried to reflect this action carried out with the tactical perspective of the modern guerrilla of the period as an act of harassment in its own media outlets. Our forces entered enemy positions here and hit the enemy at its center.”
