Riots which started in the United States followed decades of racist and systematic abuse of people of black origin. The murder of 46-year-old George Floyd sparked an organised reaction between many leftist movements, including Black Lives Matter and Antifa.
Following weeks of uprisings which have swept the United States, on 10 June protestors declared autonomy in the Seattle Council building, naming it the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.” The writing over the Seattle Police Department was changed to the “Seattle Peoples’ Department.”
