Mêrdîn Type-E Closed Prison prisoners Elif Deniz, Ronahi Sırdaş and Melek Evren started an indefinite and irreversible hunger strike against the increasing rights violations in Turkish prisons.
It was reported by fellow inmates that the insurgents declared they would start the action when the newly appointed director imposed an inmate count in the prison garden.
The women announced that they had started the action against the principal’s impositions, cell penalties, and increasing violations of rights, they gave the message that their actions would “last until they get results.”

Serhat Bulut, who is being kept in the Type-T Closed Prison in Riha, stated that he also started an indefinite and irreversible hunger strike action against the increasing rights violations with 4 other prisoners.
