A statement was issued by European Kurdish youth organizations Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger (Revolutionary Youth Movement) and Jinên Ciwan ên Azad (Free Young Womens Movement) on the occasion of 71st birthday of Abdullah Öcalan, the People’s Leader.
In the joint statement of TCŞ and JCA, it was stated that while the birthday of the Kurdish people is celebrated, all young people should consider 2020 as the year of freedom of the People’s Leader. The statement is as follows:
“It’s time to be liberated with leader APO!
The sun is rising in Amara… The birth of this sun is the rebirth of the people of Kurdistan from their ashes. Urfa, where Rêber (Leader) APO was born, is the land where many people and resistances have been experienced throughout history. We can regard these holy lands, where the Euphrates and Tigris rivers pass, as the starting place of human history.
These lands are the cry of the peoples who have carried out a great of resistance against oppression and occupation. Just as these lands where Abraham fought heroically had become a turning point in humanity and the Middle East, Rêber APO, who opened his eyes to the world in Amara, also has an important place in our lives.
He has always opposed persecution since his birth. This resistance has been a historical turning point for the Kurdish people and has become a popular struggle reborn from its ashes. Leader APO has been a key person in the struggle of the Kurdish people. Regardless of what identity is wanted to be erased from history, Leader APO will continue with the struggle initiated.
As the leader APO said, “they will not be able to defeat our people and our struggle even if they erase us from the history of humanity.” Even with the captivity of our leadership and the Kurdish people, the international conspirator forces have failed and will not succeed.
Let’s close our eyes and feel for a moment alone in a room on a deserted island, surrounded by four walls. It is surrounded by water and you have to breathe in that humidity… Despite these conditions, Rêber APO is still breathing for us and continues to enlighten us with his thoughts.
We, as youth and young women, should realize this and spread the legacy of Rêber APO with every breath. Because Rêber APO’s paradigm is very important for both the world and the Kurdish people. For example, the Covid-19 pandemic, which has influenced the whole world in the present days, is a result of the attack of capitalist modernity on nature. The system is experiencing the collapse of the crisis it has created. In this crisis period, it seeks to reach a new outlet. In other words, capitalist modernity is reorganizing itself. The consequences of this are fascism. And all states can see it.
Although these crisis periods directly affect our people, it is an opportunity to meet on the axis of social solidarity and democratic modernity. And it is the youth who will lead the way. We must establish a democratic, moral and political nation against the attacks of capitalist modernity and spread democratic modernity, the paradigm of Réber APO, everywhere.
Today, we can see the best example of this paradigm in Rojava. The democratic, ecological and women’s freedom revolution continues in Rojava, and democratic modernity is best lived there. We know that the paradigm of Rêber APO, who built new life in this war, is wanted to be prevented by international conspirators. Their only concern is that there is more and more attention to this lifeline.
Not only the leader of the Kurdish People, Leader APO is now the leader of the people. International conspiratorial forces and the fascist Turkish state have started to weaken day by day, and have started to collapse. All Kurdish people and their friends, especially us Kurdish youth, should consider this year as a year of freedom with Leader APO and say, “Freedom of Rêber APO is the freedom of all peoples”.
The year 2020 is the freedom year of Rêber APO. Because it’s time for freedom. The bouncer action that Martyr Sema Koçer carried out recently showed us that the time has come. Because Sema sacrificed herself to truly understand APO. As youth and young women, we should not forget that the youth is free through the paradigm of the Leadership!
As Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger and Jinên Ciwan ên Azad, we celebrate the birthday of Rêber APO and all Kurdish people.
