The KCDK-E released a statement in relation to the fascist attack by the terrorist Turkish state against the Maxmur Refugee Camp, killing three civilian women. The statement is as follows:
“For more than 9 months, the people of Maxmur have experienced all kinds of difficulties due to the embargo imposed by the South Kurdistan government. Refugees must be urgently protected by international institutions. International laws should be put in place to prevent civilian massacres carried out by the Turkish state.”
The KCDK-E statement added: “In these difficult days for the whole world, the genocidal Turkish state continues to target the Kurdish people. While the whole world is struggling against the coronavirus pandemic, the fascist Turkish state has murdered three Kurdish women who grazed their animals. They were the victims of the airstrike carried out on Maxmur on Wednesday.”
The statement continued: “In many parts of the world, while prisoners are being released to avoid the virus spreading in prisons, the fascist AKP-MHP government is keeping political prisoners in jail and carrying out air strikes targeting the defenseless refugees of Maxmur. While international institutions, beginning with the UN, are calling for a ceasefire in such a process, the genocidal Turkish state continues its massacres.”
Maxmur Camp is a place where 12 thousand women, children and elderly civilians live under UN supervision.
The statement said: “We condemn the South Kurdistan government, international powers and the UN for their silence and call on them to act immediately.”
KCDK-E also recalled that “there is no chance that this attack could have taken place without the approval of the South Kurdistan government and the Iraqi central government.
We call on the South Kurdistan government once again not to be a partner in the genocidal massacre carried out by the colonial Turkish state against the Kurdish people and put an end to the embargo that only served the Turkish state.”
