BEHDINAN, SOUTHERN KURDISTAN
The HPG (Peoples’ Protection Forces) Press Center shared in a written statement that 4 guerrillas were immortalised in the Xakurkê region of the Media Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan on April 23, 2019.
HPG disclosed that guerrillas Argeş, Gelhat, Mervan and Reşo, who were shaped by the patriotism of Kurdistan, had participated hugely in the struggle to make the colonial enemy pay. HPG shared, “They will always remain in our memories with their humble lives, simplicity in the relations of comradeship, and their grudge against the enemy, and they will set an example to our remaining comrades.”

Argeş Piri
“Argeş Piri (Şadi Önal), who was born as a child of a patriotic family in Hakkari, is shaped by the patriotism of Hakkari. Our comrade Argeş, who closely witnessed the pressure, denial and destruction policies of the fascist Turkish state, was subjected to torture in 2008, like many Kurdish youths and families.
On the one hand, our friend Argeş, who has undergone systematic tortures, is also the witness of the attacks of destruction. Our comrade Argeş, who joined the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle in 2015 to seek revenge against the fascist state after the oppression, persecution and torture against the Kurdish people, also undertook important duties in legal politics.
From the first moment he joined the guerrillas, he became a beloved companion among his friends with his labor, hard work and dedication to his comrades. Our friend of Arges, who is a successor of his loyalty and case, is a friend who has been involved in many studies since 2015.”
Gelhat Beritan
“Our friend Gelhat Beritan; He was born in Hakkari as a child of a patriotic family. Our friend Gelhat grew up witnessing the crimes of humanity committed by the fascist Turkish state against the Kurdish people and he brought the enemy reality to consciousness from an early age. He joined the guerrilla ranks in 2015 for the freedom of the Kurdish people and their values.
Our friend Gelhat, who lived with the stubbornness of the geography he lives in, has managed to be a strong guerrilla in the war. He took part in an active war against the enemy in his areas and until the last moment he struggled for the freedom of the Kurdish people.”
Mervan Serhat
“Our friend, Mervan Serhat, was born in Van and learned life by recognizing the reality of the enemy as he grew up in Kurdistan. Comrade Mervan saw that the Kurdish people could not be freed if Turkish fascism and occupation was not stopped in Kurdistan’s geography, and on this basis, he joined the ranks of freedom in 2014.
From the moment he came to the guerrilla fields, he has participated in the struggle with great dedication. He managed to become a competent guerilla in a short time and became one of our dynamic friends who actively participated in the developing war process.
In the area of Xakurkê, where he struggled, he devoted himself to his cause and his people without stopping for the freedom of the Kurdish people until the last moment.”
Reşo Kuri
“Reşo Kuri (Ayatollah Cengiz), born in 1992 in the Cinar district of Amed, as a child of a patriotic family, meets the struggle for labor at an early age.
Our comrade Reşo closely followed the Kurdish Freedom Struggle after 2007, after he had heard of the struggle in his childhood, and headed to the mountains of Kurdistan.
He met the reality of Kurdistan and the Kurdish Freedom Struggle when he studied at Mersin University, which was used by the fascist Turkish state as a center of Kurdish genocide and assimilation policies.
Our comrade Reşo, who joined the PKK ranks in 2014, has fulfilled the duties given to him completely since the first period he joined. Our comrade Reşo, who was especially known for his deep devotion, compassion, and courage, advanced on the path of Gurbetelli Ersöz and Halil Dağlar, as a follower of the free press tradition within the guerrilla.
Our comrade Reşo, who was known amongst his friends for his maturity, has been able to fulfill the highest level of role and mission. He has formed as an active successor of the Kurdish Freedom Struggle with his humbleness.
Our comrade Reşo always wanted to strike at the frontlines and positions against the fascist Turkish state who attacked on the basis of the occupation-destruction concept in Kurdistan after 2015. He always wants to strike with his great grudge and anger against the invasion attacks of the fascist-invader Turkish state. He was the owner of a great resistance and struggled to become the guerrilla of victory in the Kurdish Freedom Struggle.
We would like to thank the people of all Kurdistan, especially the Önal, Atilla, Akyol and Cengiz families, and we promise that we will crown the struggle for freedom, which is the ideal of our martyrs, and realize their dreams of living free with Leader Apo. ”
