MÊRDÎN, NORTHERN KURDISTAN
HPG guerrilla Kemal Berxwedan (Agit İpek), who was martyred in clashes against the terrorist Turkish state in Dersim in 2017, was buried in Mêrdîn after his remains were sent to his family home in a plastic body through a postal service three years later.
The village where the funeral would be buried in the rural Elmabahçe (Tizyan) village of the Artuklu district of Mêrdîn was blockaded by the fascist gendarmerie prior to the burrial.
The fascist gendarmerie, which controlled the entrances and exits, did not allow the villagers to attend the funeral.
Only 3 citizens were allowed to attend the burial. Martyr Kemal’s mother, Halise Ipek, was not permitted to attend the burial of her son.
