Throughout the entire history of humanity, or the human species, great disasters – or in modern words, great crises have been experienced. A significant part of these were born from natural disasters. Be it volcano eruptions, earthquakes, floods, droughts and related famine disasters; the lives, sociology, behavior, habits and lifestyles of human communities from the most primitive human communities era to the present have been effected.
In order to be protected from all these disasters, human societies, clans, tribes, tribes had to leave their places of residence, huge immigration occurred.
Only after a volcano erupted were they able to understand the damage that a volcano could cause, then they had to change their habitat when they realised that an earthquake would occur where they had settled. And then they investigated beforehand whether their region of settlement was suitable for flooding or an avalanche. Sometimes prolonged drought periods also had a significant impact on the displacement of human communities.
All of these are behaviors that exist within the inner balance of nature, and human communities have constructed an asset in this regard, not by stubbornness with nature, but by keeping a balance with nature, making themselves and their habits of life a part of natural balance. The tremendous experience gained in this process has enabled man to successfully maintain and develop his existence.
Nevertheless, the development, transferring and increasing of knowledge and experiences has caused great imbalances between the human species and other beings in nature and has resulted in human domination over nature entirely.
This development and domination have been in the interest of neither the human species nor other species and beings in nature. Since the beginning of the sovereignty period, the technological developments, knowledge, and experiences, values obtained, and products of the human species have never been used in a way to serve the benefit of communities or for the protection of the balance of nature.
All these accumulations have been organized and used only and only to the benefit of a small sovereign group all over the world. As such, countless disasters have been created by human beings for both human species and all beings in nature.
Be it the outbreaks of diseases causing the death of millions, or the wars in which millions were killed, it was not possible to erase this small group’s domination over the earth as a whole. Undoubtedly, after these big disasters created by human beings, great inquiries have developed, and important developments have taken place both in the level of idea and in practice regarding the establishment of an egalitarian joint life.
The most powerful means of domination, such as religion and the state, have suffered a great loss of prestige and influence. There was no development that would condition the absolute salvation of religion on earth.
Memory, which is the most important feature that makes people human, is being plundered by rulers. And the knowledge and experience of disasters and disaster handling cannot be transferred to tomorrow, even within the same generation.
How else can one explain that a city such as Istanbul, for example, is increasing in population by one million every year despite being defined as an absolute earthquake zone by all the experts, and even the state itself.
Or, even though it is a known fact that people do not benefit from the result of wars, why do people not object to the arms race?
How else can one explain, for example, that in the face of the current pandemic disaster there is no remedy or financial possibility to support and take care of the people? All because the states spent resources on the war industry, because a group of capitalists spent their money on preserving their capital assets.
If every state puts the investments of the military industry and military presence it has, in the service of the health sector it will take perhaps a matter of a few weeks before this pandemic disappears from the earth. While this pandemic changes all our habits of life, it has the potential to create a strong storm in questioning the powers.
