ANKARA, TURKEY
The Democratic Society Congress (DTK) released a written statement in regards to the fascist attack on Maxmur Refugee Camp by the terrorist Turkish state yesterday which resulted in the martyrdom of three civilians. The statement is as follows:
“We have learned from the press that the AKP government has been bombarding the Maxmur Camp, which has been under ambargo for months, while the world is struggling with the Covid-19 outbreak.
In the attack, made by armed unmanned aerial vehicles belonging to Turkey, three women who were milking their sheep were killed, two of them directly at the scene of the attack, and many were injured.
We do not accept this unlawful attack against the Maxmur Refugee Camp located in the territory of Iraq, where 12,000 civilians live. Nobody who respects human rights and the right to life should accept these attacks. These attacks must stop immediately. The hostility of the AKP government against the Kurdish people will bring their end.
It is a crime against humanity to bomb civilians who have to migrate due to the pressures of the state and have to live in the camps of another country. There is no such example anywhere else in the world. The AKP government knows very well that it will not get anywhere with these attacks that take place across the eyes of mass public opinion.
We condemn the attack on the Kurdish people and invite our people to be sensitive about this issue. We invite the opposition parties in Turkey, the democratic public opinion and the international community to be sensitive to this torture being imposed on Maxmur Refugee Camp with an ambargo on the one hand, and airstrikes on the other.”
