QAMİŞLO, WESTERN KURDISTAN
The paramilitary structure Difa al-Watani affiliated to the Syrian regime has attacked the internal security forces of the Autonomous Administration today in another provocation attempt.
An armed conflict arose in Qamişlo city in Rojava during afternoon hours today between the Difa al-Watani gangs who attempted to attack Internal Security Forces.
The Difa al-Watani gangs entered the Meqasim region in the Hêlko neighborhood of Qamişlo and attempted to establish a checkpoint there.
The conflict took place after the Syrian regime’s approval of the establishment of a checkpoint controlled by the paramilitary elements in question. The approval by the Syrian Regime, which controls a few checkpoints in the region in the name of unity, came as a surprise to the internal security forces who destroyed the checkpoint along with the construction machinery that turned up.
