Case rates in Turkey and northern Kurdistan have exceeded 100 thousand with 3 thousand 116 people being added in the last 24 hours. Despite trying to hide figures, Turkey has reached #3 in number of cases.
According to official figures, 491 people lost their lives in the past 24 hours in Turkey and northern Kurdistan, bringing the total death rate to 2 thousand 491 people.
According to a statement from Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, 3 thousand 116 of 40 thousand 962 tests performed in the last 24 hours were detected as positive. Thus, the total number of patients increased to 101 thousand 790.
Even if the Turkish Ministry of Health claims that most of the patients are somehow ‘healed’, Turkey is ranked in the first place in the world holding the highest number of patients.
NUMBERS ARE ALTERED
A member of the Harvard University School of Medicine faculty, Emrah Altındiş, pointed out that Turkey is protecting its place in highest case rates, following the USA and Spain on the 37th day with 100,000 cases.
Emrah highlighted that despite Turkey being ranked number seven in terms of case rates, and number twelve in terms of death rates, the death rates in Turkey are far lower than other countries in its band. “These deaths are being disclosed in lower numbers than they are,” Emrah said.
Noting that the death rate of the virus is higher than the official figures, and that information continues to be hidden, Emrah examined that society is having a hard time grasping the risks. Emrah added, “The number of daily tests that have been limited to 40,000 needs to be increased rapidly.”
