While talks continue by the fascist Turkish government to release rapists, theives, murderer police and other petty criminals amidst the coronavirus threat in Turkey, it has become clear that political prisoners will be left in Turkey’s already underconditioned prisons to die. Since talks are near concluded, an uprising has started in Êlih Type-M Prison too after Wan Type-M Prison.
According to sources local to the region, a fire has been started in Êlih Type-M Prison by the political prisoners whose crimes are little more than expressing their rights.
Stating that the detainees had caused a fire, the images shared reveal riot alarms and that smoke had risen from the prison. Many ambulances and firefighters were sent to the prison.
UPDATE – Smoke continues to rise from the building.
İHD (Human Rights Association) Batman Branch released a message in relation to the fire. It was said:
“It was discussed that a fire had been started in prison, that the fire is still going on, and that a lot of Special Operations Police entered the prison together with the firefighters. Public authorities and the press should be informed as soon as possible.”
