Tuz Biber, a stand up comedy show performing in various venues in Istanbul has caused outrage amongst the Alevi community with repulsive remarks made by a woman performer in regards to Alevisim and the Madimak massacre where 33 people were burnt alive by extremists in 1993.
Commercialising her foul sense of humour and her dignity in the name of comedy, a vile personality by the name of Fidan Pinar legitimised a massacre in which 33 intellectuals, all Alevi, were killed in Sivas on 2 July 1993 by a group of radical Islamists calling for sharia and death to infidels. The jihadists who had blockaded the Madimak Hotel where the Pir Sultan Abdal Festival attendants were accommodated stoned and set fire to the building and cheered along as Alevis with burning flesh attempted to jump out of the locked window’s of the hotel.
Fidan, in the name of ‘offensive humour’, referred to the massacre stating: “You can stick them (Alevis) all in a hotel and burn them, there are examples of this in the past.”
Claiming that no Alevis are killed in the attacks against Alevi places of worships, the petty element complained that Alevis were not being killed in such incidents because the only people present in such places are the fascist attackers themselves. She continued, “attackers go to Cem houses more than Alevis.” Her words were drowned in ecstatic applause. “If you really want to find them,” the circus performer stated, “you should go to pubs.”
