MOLISE, ITALY
The Fossalto commune in Molise, Campobasso, announced that it has granted the Peoples Leader Öcalan honorary citizenship.
Mayor Saverio Nonno stated in his speech at the City Council that the People’s Leader Öcalan was deemed worthy of this title because of his peace-creating efforts.
Reminding that the ideology developed by Öcalan, the Peoples Leader, is a clear example in Rojava, that women are in management and that there is an effective fight against ISIS, Nonno stated that they were late to give Öcalan honorary citizenship as a municipality. Nonno called on other municipalities to take the same step.
Before the municipal elections on July 3, Nonno had promised to award the honorary citizenship award to the Kurdish people in the person of Öcalan, the People’s Leader. Nonno had won the elections by a huge margin.
In January 2019, the Tufara Municipality affiliated to the city of Campobasso also granted Öcalan honorary citizenship.
The municipalities of Campobasso, Castelbottaccio, Palermo, Napoli, Palagonia, Reggio Emilia, Riace, Martano and Pinerolo had taken the same decision.
