The Children of Fire Initiative celebrated the Newroz celebrations, “the revenge and freedom holidays” of the Kurdish people and shared details of actions it has taken throughout Turkey. The statement released by the Initiative is as follows:
“We invite the Kurdish people who have been living an atrocity under oppression since the establishment of the Turkish Republic, to Turkey’s mountains, plains, city’s and streets to amplify the fire of Newroz until freedom.”
Swearing revenge from the terrorist Turkish state, the Children of Fire initiative continued; “Kurdish young people, women, men, children and old people; You are all natural members of the Children of Fire Initiative. Remember, Efrin’s wound is fresh, and the execution of Şêx Seîd is alive every day. The oppressed, Dersim, Geliyê Zîlan, Seyît Rıza and Zarifler are waiting for revenge with Rindêxan.
Either we will be free like the nations of the world, or we will determine everyone and everything that is an obstacle to our freedom as the enemy.
On this occasion, we celebrate Newroz, the holiday of revenge and freedom of the Kurdish people, and we call for the amplification of this fire until Kurdistan is free.”
In relation to the actions taken, the initiative shared:
- “On 18 March 2020, 3 buses of a tour company were burned with Newroz fire in Gümbet District of Muğla’s Bodrum. As a result of the rapidly growing flames, 2 buses burned completely and turned to scrap. Some explosions during the fire caused great panic in the environment.
- On the same day, a white goods warehouse was burned in İsmetpaşa of the Dikili district of İzmir. The fire caused serious material damage.
- On the same day, a luxury car belonging to fascists was set on fire in the Muratpaşa District of Antalya, and the burned car turned completely into ash.
- On March 19, 2020, a workplace in the Istanbul Bayrampaşa Terzidere District was set on fire. While the entire workplace became ash, the fire caused a great deal of material damage.
In addition, on 17 March and 18 March, the Newroz celebration fire was lit in Antalya, Serik and Manavgat mountains.”
