In the evening, ISIS prisoners in Heseke tried to take prison security guards hostage. It was learned that gang members who failed to take hostages caused great financial damage in the prison with the demolition of the walls. It has also been reported that thousands of jihadists have fleed.
The riot and tension in prison continued towards midnight. SDF took intense security measures both in prison and outside. All roads to the prison were also closed.
International Coalition aircraft flew intensely over the canton of Hesekê and prison.
According to information obtained, some ISIS prisoners have managed to escape from prison. Information about their numbers could not be obtained. It was learned that the situation in the prison is still not under control.
Autonomous Administration officials have previously warned international powers that prisons pose a threat.
ISIS members caught mostly from Baxoz are being held in the prison in Hesekê. While Democratic Autonomous Management meets all the needs of detainees, especially food and clothing, SDF ensures its security.
The building used as a prison is quite old. Due to the fact that other prisons are full, a part of the university in Hesekê has been turned into a prison to accommodate ISIS members brought from Baxoz.
Although security measures are high, both the fact that it is not built as a prison, and that it is an old building and full in capacity poses a serious risk.
In some wards, up to 100 people, and in others, up to 150 people are detained. The infirmary, in which patients are removed, is also crowded. This situation also provides grounds for epidemics.
While international powers did not fulfil their commitments, prison officials had previously warned that if the detainees were not referred to other places, the risk of rebellion and escape was high.
Organised rebellion attempts had previously taken place in some wards and infirmary. The same prison was brought to the agenda with the attacks of ISIS members against prison staff and journalists.
