The associations of students from Kurdistan, YXK and JXK, demand immediate contact with Abdullah Öcalan and call for uninterrupted action. The statement YXK and JXK says the following:
“The fascist Turkish Minister of Interior announced today that a fire has broken out on the prison island of Imrali, where Rêber Apo (Leader Öcalan) has been held hostage for 21 years. This outbreak of fire is a great danger to the lives of Rêber APO and the three other Kurdish inmates who are also held hostage on Imrali. We are very concerned and angry that there is no clarification about the state of health of Rêber Apo and the three comrades of his.
As YXK and JXK we, therefore, call for action until the lawyers can visit Rêber Apo and inform about his health and safety. Millions of people worldwide are concerned about this outbreak of fire. However, this alarming news has been released without any further relevant information about Rêber Apo’s health and safety status. This reckless approach of the Turkish colonial state to the fire at Imrali is tantamount to an attack on Rêber Apo and, in his person, on us. Above all, we address the Kurdish and internationalist youth: Mobilize for continuous actions!”
