An American army convoy of 50 armoured vehicles headed from Iraq to Syria, countering the statements made by Trump’s assistant, Robert O’Brien, according to which — the US will not intervene in the situation in the Syrian province of Idlib.
Earlier, Tayyip Erdogan announced that the statements made by the US in regards to Syria “do not inspire confidence” in Ankara.
NATO
The NATO has also made clear that it does not intend to provide military support to Ankara in case of Turkish military operation in the north of Syria.
“The NATO countries will not support the activation of the 5th Article due to the losses of the Turkish military in Idlib in early February. The NATO doesn’t consider the possibility of providing military assistance to Turkey in case of a military operation in this region,” the TASS quoted.
US
During a telephone conversation between the US President Trump and the Tayyip Erdogan on the 15th of February, Donald Trump underlined his concern about the situation in Idlib, also criticized the Russian support to the Syrian government.
Donald Trump also added that he wished Russia would stop supporting Bashar al-Assad, and instead would insist for a political resolution of the conflict.
RUSSIA
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of the Russian president, commented on the words of Trump, who, during a telephone conversation with the Erdogan, criticized the Russian support of the Syrian government.
“The Russian armed forces and Russian advisers continue to support the Syrian armed forces in their fight against the terrorists. We still regret that those terrorists have intensified their activities from Idlib,” Dmitry Peskov said.
LIBYA
Faiz Sarraj, the head of the Libyan Government of the National Accord (recognized by the UN) announced that due to the blockade of the oil terminals by the Libyan National Army, commanded by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, “a catastrophic situation has developed in Libya”.
He underlined that despite the calls for stability in Libya — the international community hasn’t done any significant actions. “Oil is the main source of income in Libya,” Sarraj stated.
