ROJAVA, WESTERN KURDISTAN
Coinciding with the historical steps taken in the direction of national unity in Rojava and Northern Kurdistan by Kurdish political forces, representatives of the Barzani-backed Syrian Kurdish National Council paid a traitorous visit to the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in Ankara.
Çavuşoğlu, targetting the Autonomous Administration via Twitter too, shared the following message: “We met with the Syrian Kurdish National Council delegation. We have stated that we support their roles in the Syrian National Coalition and in the political process. We emphasized that the terrorist organization PKK / YPG has done the biggest damage to the Kurds.”
Only recently, the Rojava Kurdistan and the Northern Syrian Autonomous Administration approved the decision that allowed parties affiliated with the SKNC to open offices in Rojava on the basis of national unity, and the parties organising under the collaborative SKNC finally opened offices in the cities of Hesekê and Kobanê.
Taking into consideration the hostility of the terrorist Turkish state towards the Kurdish people, one might wonder why a movement named the ‘Syrian Kurdish National Council’ would meet with the foe at a point where a possible attack towards Kobane is on the agenda, during a time where the Turkish state utilises any opportunity to kill a Kurd.
The SKNC is the political foot of Barzani in Rojava and Northern Syria. To understand where the supposed leader of Southern Kurdistan lies within the framework of national unity, one could simply take a look at the massacres being conducted jointly by the Erdogan – Barzani duo. Just over recent months, the Barzani government has stood idle to attacks in Shengal, Mexmur, and the great Media Defence Zones where KDP soldiers were recorded handing military check-points over to the Turkish army.
